Art Pottery Large Platter by Pat Espey

Acclaimed Seattle artist Pat Espey's pottery has been described as "painterly" and this very large platter of hers is truly a work of art. Hand made of red clay, the oval platter with its vertically-oriented painting depicts a scene in vibrant colors with a rim trimmed in cobalt blue. The branching tree with round brown nuts has five black and white birds perched  on it, with a yellow sun shining through its green leaves. It's rooted in a grassy meadow strewn with purple flowers. 

The artist hand signed the underside, inscribed in the clay "Pat Espey." We understand that Ms. Espey has retired, so her art pottery will be become more and more scarce in the future. We've included a photo of her at an art show, holding one of her beautiful pieces.

The platter measures 18 1/2 inches top to bottom, 15 inches wide and 1 3/4 inches deep. It weighs 5 pounds and is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks or crazing. It's a truly inspired artwork by a superbly talented potter.
