This large, handsome Canada Goose was carved by Patricia Korman for the Hadley Companies. Made of solid pine, it sits on a rectangle of wood that simulates a keel. Tied onto the block is a 5 foot 3 inch line with a lead weight. Burned into the wood is the Hadley logo; the carver hand signed it "P. Korman" above it in black paint.
The goose measures 16 1/4 inches long, 7 inches wide across the breast and 8 1/2 inches tall to the top the head. The bird weighs 3 1/4 pounds and is in excellent condition, with a couple nicks to the tail and a fine craquelure to the paint. There are no splits, cracks or missing paint; it's all intact, including the black glass eyes.
For some history: Here is a quote from Buzzfile online, "The Hadley Companies, which also operates under the name Wooden Bird, is located in Shakopee, Minnesota. This organization primarily operates in the Carved and Turned Wood business / industry within the Lumber and Wood Products, Except Furniture sector. This organization has been operating for approximately 47 years..."
